$83M Cargo Theft Crew Busted
Federal authorities announced charges against 13 alleged members of dueling Armenian organized crime groups accused of stealing over $83 million in Amazon cargo and attempted murder, kidnapping, wire fraud, and firearms violations.
The group allegedly posed as Amazon Relay carriers, contracted loads, then ghosted with the freight.
Inside the Sting

Raids hit homes in SoCal and Florida, seizing 14 firearms, three armored vehicles, and $100K in cash.
The ring reportedly used fake business registrations and real carriersā stolen info to defraud Amazon Logistics.
Charges include attempted murder and kidnapping tied to turf wars between syndicate leaders Ara Artuni and Robert Amiryan.
Freight Industry Reacts
A post from White Arrow CEO Christ Ceausu stirred up a lot of commentary as the live news coverage of the bust played out.
āThis crew has been operating since at least 2021⦠booking loads and disappearing with the freight. They stole everything from smart TVs to SharkNinja vacuums. Some got sold, some handed out. Wouldnāt be shocked if they were flipping it back through Amazon as resellers.ā ā Chris Ceausu, CEO, White Arrow
And he guessed right.

Plus, the crime involved many other criminal organizations, all coordinating to collect big on stolen freight.

Veteran carriers say this ring was just the beginning.
āBetter late than never,ā said one commenter.
āWeāve been hit at least a couple times over the past few years⦠and this crew was responsible for a big chunk.ā
Chris C. added:
āIf this is what they hit Amazon forāhow much more cargo from the rest of us has been disappearing?ā

Overhaulās Q1 2025 Report
This bust drops just as Overhaulās latest cargo theft report shows the threat is still growing, especially in freight hubs.

Key stats from Q1:
505 cargo thefts reported (up 36% YoY)
California, Texas, and Tennessee top the risk map
Electronics, food, clothing, and home goods most stolen
Warehouse/DCs are now the top theft location
Pilferage remains the top method (48%)
Violent last-mile thefts are on the rise, especially in Maryland and California
Spotlight: Rail cargo theft has spiked to 9% of total incidents.

Is this a turning point?
This bust could finally be the pressure release valve the freight world has been waiting for. But unless enforcement ramps up beyond the headlines, cargo theft wonāt slow down.
For years, the freight community has sounded the alarm on cargo theftāat conferences, in op-eds, and even before Congress. From identity fraud to warehouse pilferage and highway hijackings, the call for federal intervention has only grown louder.

For many, this takedown feels like overdue proof that Washingtonās starting to hear them.
