Aurora to Launch 1000-Mile Driverless Trucking Route

Aurora Innovation is gearing up to expand their driverless freight hauling, announcing recently that they are offering driverless freight hauling operations between Fort Worth and the Phoenix area next year.

Aurora is extending their Fort Worth to El Paso lane all the way to Phoenix. It's a massive 1000-mile stretch that typically takes over 15 hours. Within the first half of 2025 their pilot program is set to kick off, while later in 2025 the plan is to begin rolling out fully driverless operations.

Track Record

Aurora's not new to this game. They have already:

  • Hauled 7,000 loads for pilot customers

  • Covered nearly two million commercial miles

It's all thanks to the Aurora Driver - a self-driving hardware kit that turns regular trucks into autonomous haulers.

Future Plans

  • Late 2024: Fully autonomous South Dallas to Houston route

  • 2027: Large-scale deployment across the U.S.
